The Universe Makes Me Giggle

Lately I’ve been fascinated by the concept that the universe conspires only to support us. Like, the only thing it’s programmed to do is help us reach our ultimate well-being.

I feel like that’s why Reiki works. I focus the universe’s supportive, everything-good energy through my clients so their own everything-good energy can rebalance and flow optimally. Then their own healing powers can start to reset and kick into gear.

I did a distance Reiki session for a cat the other day and his human told me that after the session, the cat happily jumped into his lap and purred more loudly than he’d heard in a long time. The next day, I did a distance Reiki session for the cat’s human, and he told me that at the beginning of the session he felt super relaxed, then he burst into hysterical laughter for the next several minutes.

Then I remembered a distance energy session I received from a friend last year where I burst into uncontrollable laughter in the middle of the treatment. I had no idea why I was laughing, and I just couldn’t stop.

If the universe is the essence of support and giving us what we want, why wouldn’t it be possible to feel pure joy as that essence is focused and flowing through us during a session?

When I burst out laughing in that distance session, I instinctively put my hand over my mouth as I laughed. I was home alone. No one was going to think I was crazy. But my human instinct was to stifle it.

This morning I came upon this quote from Jonathan Safran Foer: “Why does watching a dog be a dog fill one with happiness?”

Here’s why: Because animals are the essence of that universal energy—they just want to support us and help give us what we want. A dog would never put his paw over his mouth to stifle a fit of panting with happiness. A cat would never try to purr quietly so no one notices, and a horse would never hold back from running with abandon through a field.

Often our humanness and life experiences make resistance a comfortable, safe go-to. But lately I’ve tried to be more open to the universe’s conspiring to help me. And you know what happened? Yesterday right when I felt disconnected and down, a friend called me out of the blue and gave me a spontaneous distance shamanic healing. And then my cat jumped in my lap and MADE me pet him.

Now that’s a conspiracy I can get behind.

It’s all about the magic. 🙌
