Jet Engines of the Universe

A week ago I was waiting for the bus at New York's Port Authority, eager to start my week at Kripalu in Massachusetts to be a TA for Danielle MacKinnon’s beginner soul-level animal communication class. (I’ve studied multiple levels of animal communication with Danielle and received my certification from her, so for me this was an amazing opportunity and a total honor!)

In line for the bus, I struck up a conversation with a young guy who was about to travel home to Hartford, CT. Turns out he recently graduated from college and is currently enjoying his first job out of school, designing jet engines. Seriously impressed, I told him that whenever I fly, I prefer not to think about how it all works—how the huge aircraft stays in the air and actually gets me from point A to point B in a matter of hours. He responded with a smile and said, “That’s MY job.” I immediately felt relieved, knowing that a nice, intelligent person was designing and testing jet engines and taking full responsibility for their efficiency and safety. I literally thought, the next time I fly, I’ll enjoy Netflix so much more because this guy’s so on it.

Wouldn’t you know, that feeling of I can relax and trust I’m supported came up at Kripalu. At the beginning of the week, I was there for the students as they inevitably got in their own way—thinking they couldn’t possibly do this, finding it so hard to believe that absolutely anyone can learn to talk to animals. I went through the exact same thing at that stage of my studies—my own personal period of self-doubt with ample anxiety. But the more you study, the more you practice, the more you realize this is an ability that humans do possess. So what does it all come down to? Letting go. Anyone in last week’s class can tell you that every time they stopped thinking and worrying about “getting it right” and instead opened themselves up to trusting that energetic connection and intuition are very real things, they received the coolest messages from the animals.

When I board a plane, I trust that everything is designed to support the successful flight of the aircraft. When I do an animal reading, I trust that the messages the human needs to hear will come through from the animal. Neither situation is about me—I’m just along for the ride.

Where are you getting in your own way, holding yourself back? How do you think it would feel to trust that the universe has got you? Believe me, the support of the universe/energy around you is stronger than the best and safest jet engine. And once you acknowledge that, your story becomes better than anything on Netflix.

It’s all about the magic. 🙌
